Johnnie To
Prior to the handover of Hong Kong to China in 1997 most of the great action filmmakers fled the city and made their way to the United States, destined to make Jean Claude Van Damme vehicles for the foreseeable future. One who stayed behind was Johnnie To, whose prolific career has churned out dozens of slick, offbeat films. He's done way too much badass stuff to even scratch the surface, but we can take a look at a handful and hopefully it'll encourage further digging on your own.
